2026 mileage deduction calculator
Enter your business miles and see what they're worth at the IRS standard rate. For 2026 that's 72.5¢ a mile from January 1 to June 30 and 76¢ a mile from July 1 to December 31.
How it works
Deduction = business miles × the IRS standard mileage rate for when you drove, plus parking fees and tolls for business trips. The IRS raised the 2026 business rate partway through the year, so miles before July 1 use 72.5¢ and miles from July 1 use 76¢.
The standard rate already covers gas, oil, repairs, insurance and depreciation, so you can't deduct those on top for the same car. Commuting from home to a regular workplace doesn't count.
Self-employed? The deduction goes on Schedule C, line 9 (car and truck expenses). It lowers your taxable profit, which lowers both income tax and self-employment tax.
